When does a house become a home?

A house becomes a home when it's a place that fosters joy, when it becomes a place of safety, comfort, and new beginnings. Humble Design's mission is simple yet impactful: to change lives and communities by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for those in need, especially for families and single parents coming out of homelessness. Humble Design turns moving in — into moving forward.Since 2009, Humble Design has helped over 9,000 people emerging out of homelessness live lives of dignity, security, and unity. Out of those 9,000—60% were children, 20% were single parents, and 15% were veterans—all of them coming out of homelessness.

What they do

Humble Design changes lives and communities by custom designing and fully furnishing home interiors for individuals, families and veterans emerging from homelessness—having a space where you can feel safe, comfortable, and at home has such a massive impact on nearly every aspect of your life. And so many of the children that Humble Design helps haven't had that before—a bedroom of their own, or even a bed of their own.

The impact

Giving people housing is an important step in the journey out of homelessness, but not enough to solve the problem. Up to 50% of people coming out of homelessness go back to homelessness within a year after securing housing. Less than 1% of people return to homelessness after Humble Design helps.Humble design ends this revolving door of homelessness by creating homes where families can find peace, strength, and hope—offering them stability and allowing them to focus on other things in their life—like their education, employment, and building a better future.
